What is the theme for Global Game Jam 2026?
Goldsmiths and Game Dev Local hosted Europe’s largest in-person Global Game Jam event for 2026 on campus. Mask’ was the theme for this year’s Global Game Jam (GGJ), an annual international event taking place virtually and at in-person sites around the world. The annual event begins on a Friday afternoon in January and kicks off with video keynotes and advice from leaders in the game development industry. The jam formally begins after an announcement of the year’s theme. The GGJ encourages collaboration and its events are not a competition.The GGJ is an exciting, challenging and fun event that gives both enthusiasts and professional game developers the opportunity to come together in a very special setting, jam and reach an international audience with their games. Participation is free of charge!The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the state of California and our mission is to empower all individuals worldwide to learn, experiment, and create together through the medium of games in a safe and welcoming environment.Game jams are the quintessential game development competition. In a game jam, developers commit to making a game based on a central theme and submit it within a set time constraint. The theme is announced at the official start time of the jam.
Where is the Global Game Jam 2025?
We are very excited to welcome you on the weekend of the 24th-26th for the annual Global Game Jam! The site is part of New York University and is an IN PERSON jam site, held in the NYU Game Center – located on the 6th Floor of 370 Jay St, Brooklyn. To participate in Global Game Jam, you need to sign up at one of the many, many sites around the world in over 100 countries and participate together with the other registered attendees at your site. If you don’t see any sites registered near you, consider becoming a Site Organiser!
