Yes. It’s the best version of one of the greatest games ever made, with active userbase. It’s a no brainer of you enjoy AOE2. I just bought it with some friends (some had never seen the game before, others were very comfortable players) and played 2 rounds (4v4 and deathmatch) and we had a blast. AOE3 is superior in almost every way. A vastly better game. AOE4 is basically a rehashed AOE2 with 3D graphics.Many people still play AoE III: DE even though it is abandoned. I played both a very large amount, and I have to say that the only parts of AoE 3 that are better than AoE 2 are the graphics, home city, and trade. Everything else, the number of civilizations, the presence/lack of random maps, the AI, the campaign, the variety of units, buildings, and upgrades, goes to AoE 2. AoE2 had more civs than you could shake a stick at and the units were fun and interesting and varied. AoE3’s units were all basically rock-paper-scissors in terms of variety. AoE2 was just a better game. EDIT: As for a digital copy of 2, you’re probably not going to find one.
