No, the games are pretty approachable in terms of complexity and difficulty. There are difficulty spikes and a pretty rough post- game, sure, but overall both should be easy to get into even if it’s not a genre you’ve done a lot with. They aren’t any harder to get into than pretty much any other jrpg. If you understand how to equip characters and things like skills then you will be fine. Nothing difficulty wise in the games that you can’t solve with a bit of grinding anyways.
