Why are amigas so expensive?
Big box Amigas are fairly rare and hence rather expensive. They also often seem to be in an alarming state of decay when sold, unless refurbished by the previous owner. They were mostly used as TV and video industry workhorses and have often suffered rough handling and bad storage conditions after being decommissioned. Before Amiga 500 was shipped, Commodore suggested that the list price of the Amiga 500 was US$595. At delivery in October 1987, Commodore announced that the Amiga 500 would carry a US$699/£499 list price.
