Which Mass Effect game is considered the best?
Mass Effect 2 is often hailed as the pinnacle of the series by the majority, and for good reason. This sequel took the best elements of the original game and polished them to near perfection. Mass Effect 2 is renowned for its intense, character-driven storytelling. The inaugural video game in the series, Mass Effect (2007), follows Shepard’s investigation of Saren Arterius, one of the Reapers’ agents. Mass Effect 2 (2010) begins two years later and sees Shepard’s forces battling the Collectors, an alien race abducting human colonies to facilitate the Reapers’ return.Mass Effect 2” is widely considered to be the best in the series, and not only that, but also one of the greatest role-playing games of all time.Mass Effect had the distinction of being one of the first video-games to become mired in the culture wars of the Bush years. The first game in the trilogy made waves because it allowed both male and female main characters to “romance” a bisexual, non-gender blue alien.
Should I play Mass Effect 1 and 2 before 3?
You should play through each one in order and have your Commander Shepard’s story play out the way you want it to. That’s the beauty of the series and what makes it so memorable and great. Kaidan is unique among the Mass Effect 3 Romance options because he is one of only three who can both be Romanced for the first time in this game, or have a Romance from a previous game continued. While he was only available to Female Shepards in the original game, in Mass Effect 3 he’s open to Male Shepards as well.Romance is possible in Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 for both a male and female Commander Shepard.Commander Shepard is the player character in the Mass Effect video game series by BioWare (Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3).If you don’t Romance Liara in Mass Effect 1, you’ll be able to have another chance at it in Mass Effect 3. While Kaidan and Ashey’s romance paths are effectively identical, Liara’s is different because she is almost too easy to romance, particularly because both a Male and Female Shepard can romance her.
Was Mass Effect 2 or 3 better?
Overall arching story: ME3 is grander and more cinematic in scale. I think the writers do a great job capturing the urgency of the reaper invasion, and how it feels to recruit the entire galaxy to fight on your side. Therefore I found ME3’s main story more compelling and more memorable than ME2. But come on, ME3 is the most underrated game in the trilogy. There’s so many things it does great that people take for granted. The character interaction is great, the combat is excellent, the stakes and threat is awesome, everyone’s character arcs by the end are finished.ME1 does the bulk of the heavy lifting as far as world building goes and introduces characters and major plot threads that run the length of the trilogy. Skipping it does yourself and the story a huge disservice. The only game that’d be safe to skip is Mass Effect 2, it’s basically a spin off game being one big sidequest that has little to do with the story of 1&3. You could in theory play ME1 then go straight into ME3 without confusion because 3 more or less picks up from where 1 leaves off.
