When did Metal Gear 1 come out?

Considered to have popularized the stealth genre, it was the first video game developed by Hideo Kojima, who would go on to direct most of the games that followed in the Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid (メタルギアソリッド, Metaru Gia Soriddo? MGS or MGS1) is a stealth action video-game directed by Hideo Kojima. The game was developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and first published in 1998 for the PlayStation.
