What was the first Google Doodle ever?
The first Google Doodle honored the 1998 edition of the long-running annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City, Nevada, and was designed by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed. To commemorate the 10th anniversay of the attacks of Sept. Google skipped its often elaborate Google Doodle to commemorate major occasions. Instead, the search giant went with a simple Google logo and an even simpler black ribbon to honor all those lives lost in the Sept.
