What is Sega CDX?
The sega cdx can play game cartridges, game discs, and even music cds, which basically makes it the ultimate all-in-one retro console. Only about 5,000 units were ever sold, and these days they go for anywhere between $500 and $1,000 on ebay. With the competition heating up, sega released the multi-mega (cdx in north america) in april of 1994. The multi-mega was a single unit that combined both the genesis and the sega cd into a single unit. The sleek design was slightly larger then a normal cd player.Released in 1994 in North America under the name Sega CDX. A portable CD player that plays both Mega Drive and Mega-CD games, as well as audio CDs, and CD+G discs. Resembling a slightly longer version of the typical portable CD player of the day.
Is Sega CD the same as Mega-CD?
On October 15, 1992, the Mega-CD was released in North America as the Sega CD, with a retail price of US$299. Advertising included one of Sega’s slogans, Welcome to the Next Level. With the competition heating up, Sega released the Multi-Mega (CDX in North America) in April of 1994.
