Was Outlast 2 successful?

Is Outlast 2 a scary game?
The game did give me a lot of scares throughout, but I wasn’t traumatized at all from the gameplay, like the first game. The mountain setting and the cult added some sense of dread to the game, but it wasn’t as unsettling as the asylum setting and the asylum patient enemies from the first game. While the game was scary, the sequel held back the psychological horror factor unlike the first game where the developers go all out. Is Outlast 2 more disturbing than 1?
I think both video games are terrifying. Outlast 1 is on another level, though. Its terrifying scenes left a deeper impression on me. If I had to choose to spend a nightmarish night, I’d definitely choose the first Outlast. In Outlast 2, the video game adapts the mass suicide of Jonestown as a reference and background.
