Is Yakuza 1 better than Kiwami?
The combat in Kiwami is a lot better than the original (except for some boss fights which feel awkward), although there’s a certain vibe the original has that Kiwami doesn’t quite match. Kiwami does change a lot especially how they made Majima very unserious and goofy. But still a good game so go for it. I find kiwami 2 to be pretty easy the enemies and bosses are a cakewalk. The completion list isnt as grindy and the amount of stuff you need to complete is less than other games. Same applies to the trophies/achievements as well.

Is Yakuza a masterpiece?
If you are thinking about diving into the series please do, it’s that good. Kiwami delivers amazing combat and build varieties with a amazing pacing and even more fleshed out substories. Back to back it has been a pleasure playing both games. Yakuza 0 feels slow, boring and can’t seem to keep my attention. After playing the yakuza games, kiwami 1 – 5, i thought i should play 0 before closing kiryu’s story in 6. However, i can’t seem to keep my attention on the game like i was with every other installment i have played.Some people criticize the pacing and that combat is simpler compared to other games, but for me, it didn’t take away from the experience. These are small issues in an otherwise amazing game. Overall, Yakuza 6 delivers a complete, emotional, and fun experience. That’s why I rate it 9/10.Somehow, Yakuza 0 does what nobody thought could be done — it becomes more GTA than GTA. There’s crime, drama, betrayal, open-world exploration, and brutal combat (something GTA has never been good at).Yakuza 0 may be the best starting point, but some things really do hit different if you play in release order.
