Is Soul Hacker 2 a good game?
Critic Reviews Soul Hackers 2 is one of Atlus’ best games to date. The story is compelling and rooted in familiar dark themes while avoiding the fluff to be a sharper experience. It refreshes the gameplay of Persona 5 with streamlined changes to make it approachable for a wider audience. Soul Hackers 2’s only saving grace is its visual design. The characters look cool, the town is interesting, and the UI is somewhat stylish, but that’s it. It’s not broken or anything, just incredibly uninteresting. There’s absolutely no substance to the story, characters, battle system, or level design.

Without Persona’s calendar system or “Shin Megami Tensei V’s” open world, the structure of “Soul Hackers 2” feels confined. It’s also a substantially shorter game (by JRPG standards, at any rate) than other Atlus titles, with my first playthrough ending at 30 hours. Soul Hackers 2 received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its presentation, combat system, and story, but criticized the dungeon design, side content, and implementation of downloadable content. The game failed to meet the sales expectations of Sega.
