In all honesty I really would recommend playing them in order. References and payoffs won’t hit the same. Even in 2, there’s some stuff that has to do with Darkspawn, the Blight etc that will mean a lot more and make more sense playing Origins. I recommend playing them in order. There’s a modern day story that goes with all three. First, Origins, then Odyssey, then Valhalla.
Are Dragon Age 1 and 2 connected?
They way they connect is mostly references to stuff you did in the last game, there’s no direct story continuation with the same main character in both games. Like it can be cool to know how Hawke in DA2 affected the situation with the mages in DA:I, but if you don’t know who that is it doesn’t really matter either.
