Is Bubsy 4D out?
Bubsy 4D launches on May 22! Here’s a peek at the legendary Bobcat on an all-new adventure: | IGN | Facebook. Bubsy is an orange-furred anthropomorphic bobcat with a light-colored muzzle, stomach, and soles, brown-tufted ears, a short tail with a dark tip, clawed hands, and blue eyes. He wears a white T-shirt with a red exclamation mark on it, or alternatively, a jumper.
Why was Bubsy so bad?
The game used notorious tank controls to move Bubsy around, so his movements were stiff and clumsy. But the platforming was the worst part of all. Bubsy 3D is a terrible platformer. In his overview of the game, Nitro Rad describes controlling Bubsy as a hot mess. Enemies are incredibly difficult to avoid and maneuver around.
Is Bubsy 4D gonna be good?
With that in mind, Bubsy 4D is a really smart way to translate Bubsy’s appeal (if you can call it that) into a 3D platformer. This is a game that begs you to speedrun it because Bubsy has an entire moveset of traversal options that give you a lot of freedom in how you approach platforming. IGN’s Levi Buchanan cited the game as a failure to transition from 2D to 3D, criticizing the character design compared to previous Bubsy games, as well as the game’s controls. Game Revolution suggested that the negative reception for Bubsy 3D may be why developers are reluctant to make another 3D game in the series.
