How does the Immortality game work?
In the same manner as Barlow’s prior works Her Story and Telling Lies, Immortality incorporates the use of full-motion video for the player to piece together Marcel’s fate. The player begins with one clip from one of the three films, and the player can pause and click on a person or item of interest. The true ending to Immortality is unlocked after finding ten specific Secret Clips that are hidden within its three-part story.
How does Immortality work?
Biological immortality is an absence of aging. Specifically it is the absence of a sustained increase in rate of mortality as a function of chronological age. A cell or organism that does not experience aging, or ceases to age at some point, is biologically immortal. Immortality implies a never-ending existence, regardless of whether or not the body dies (as a matter of fact, some hypothetical medical technologies offer the prospect of a bodily immortality, but not an afterlife).Despite the advances in anti-aging research, true immortality remains elusive. Most scientists agree that while we may be able to significantly extend human life, achieving immortality is still a distant goal. Current research is focused on extending life rather than eliminating death altogether.Type X: Vampiric: The character is immortal, as long as they feed off the life-force of others. Type 0: Non Diegetic: The character can’t die because the author wouldn’t dream of killing them off.
Is immortality worth playing?
There’s so much that can’t be said for spoiler purposes, but rest assured, whether you were there at launch, or are late to the party, the exercise of exploring Immortality is well and truly worth it. Undead: Characters who cannot die due to technically being already dead, often overlapping with other forms of immortality.Deathurge reveals to Immortal that he is intended to live until the end of the universe, then learn the grand secret that will reveal itself at the end of things. Immortal is revealed to be neither a human nor a mutant, but rather Homo supreme: a being that has evolved past death itself, making him the ultimate human.
