I’ve played solo physically, on TTS, and in digital, and of the three digital is by far the best. It’s smoother, easier, and prettier. So I’d say that if you really want to play some Gloomhaven solo, it’s how I would go. Similar to the Dark Souls series, Gloomhaven digital can be misunderstood as providing its players with an unashamedly masochistic experience.
