Is Outlast 2 the scariest game ever?
The answer is no, but outlast two was very damn close to raising the expectations. While the game was scary, the sequel held back the psychological horror factor unlike the first game where the developers go all out. Looks like Outlast 3 is, indeed, coming. Not Outlast 3, they’ve said it themselves multiple times. It’s a TBA project established within Outlast’s universe. So it will be it’s own stand alone game, but will be placed in the same universe.Outlast 2 is a video game in which nothing you do matters, you fail at everything you set out to do, you’re not directly involved in any of the ways that the story develops, and the story itself ends with every character that isn’t you dead, either killed by each other or by themselves.Horror, like comedy, requires timing and delivery to provide narrative momentum and a function; it ISN’T ENOUGH to be dimly lit yet overly gross, which is what Outlast 2 doesn’t have the patience for.
