How many levels are in New World?
Leveling in New World: Aeternum creates a multi-layered progression system. The base game cap of 60 (or 65 with the expansion) represents just one aspect of character development. Weapon mastery (capped at 20) and trade skills (capped at 250) provide depth beyond the level cap. The current max level in New World is 60 for the base game and 65 for players with the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion. Reaching the level cap is a significant milestone in your Aeternum journey.
Was New World free?
The game was originally planned to be a free-to-play game, however in 2019, prior to its release, the business model has changed into the standard business model of paid games. Players who signed up for the game prior to that change received the game for free. On July 20, 2021, the game was launched as a closed beta. While New World was initially planned as a free-to-play game, it currently employs the standard business model of a buy-to-play game, a point of historical difference in comparison to many—mostly much older—MMORPGs that traditionally utilized subscription models in service of significant regular content updates.
