Why is Fable 3 no longer on Steam?
Fable 3 was removed from Steam simply because Microsoft ran out of cdkeys. You see , that game used GFWL, an extension of Xbox Live services for PC meant to manage drm of Microsoft Games and other publishers, Microsoft used to push it heavily back in the day. Fable is officially returning in 2026 with a full next- gen reboot! Will Fable 2 ever come to PC Steam?
Probably not. Though not impossible if there’s a remake with a new dev, the chance of that happening is extremely low. Your best chance is if they make a fable collection, I doubt they would go out of their way to make a port for just to that game. I don’t see that happening since there is no port for PC. The upcoming PC games slated for early 2026 had a strong presence, adding fuel to the fire that Fable 4 might be subject to yet another delay. Fable 4 is set to launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with our would-be heroes able to play via Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Why is Fable not on PC?
Fable 2 was only ever made for console. Cloud gaming essentially emulates the xbox to be able to play it. It is probably too expensive and too much effort to port it to PC and probably not enough potential profit. Fable 3, on the other hand, does have a PC version. Is Fable 3 still playable?
You can still play Fable 3 on pc even though it’s delisted from stores, 3rd party sellers still have some steam keys and there’s other means of acquiring it too, with the other means there are amazing patches like unlocked fps and other goodies. I’d personally avoid the gamepass version since it’s cloud gaming. You can play fable 3 natively on PC (albeit some hoops to jump through), OR play fable 2 and 3 on xbox game pass ultimate (cloud streaming) OR play fable 2 and 3 through Xenia emulation (which I know very little about). Sadly Fable 2 never got a steam release so it is unavailable there.
