Why did Yahoo Games shut down?
They decided to shut down the site because the only option was to rewrite all of the games from scratch with a newer web technology. Eventually Java removed support for applets altogether, so it would have died whether Yahoo decided to shut it down earlier or not. The majority of Yahoo! Games was closed down on March 31, 2014, and the balance was closed on February 9, 2016. Yahoo! Yahoo!
