Why did Sea of Thieves fail?
The problem is that the game has too little content for the extreme price and the only interesting thing that the game has to offer: becoming a pirate legend, requires months of boring grinding. Boring and repetitive gameplay with a mediocre end goal (cosmetics from commendations). Things like curses that affect your pirates body were until recently (as of writing this) achieved through some in game grinding, now you can just buy a plunder pass (battle pass) and get them.
