Is Elder Scrolls Online still free?
The Current State of ESO: Free-to-Play or Subscription-Based? While ESO is not entirely free-to-play, the core gameplay experience is accessible without a subscription. In fact, the developers describe ESO as a buy-to-play game with an optional subscription called ESO+. There is a main story in The Elder Scrolls Online, and players can play through it solo or with friends. Unlike some other MMOs, however, you do not need to purchase a subscription to play it. Buy yourself a copy (it’s often on sale on Steam) and you can play the game indefinitely.
Is Elder Scrolls Online just like Skyrim?
Yes. ESO is like online Skyrim. The look and feel are about the same. There is a skill tree in both games. ESO does require the player to pick a class for each character and some classes are better in different roles in group content. I only play PVE so I can’t comment on PVP. The biggest differences between the two are caused by the fact that ESO is a persistent online game world shared by millions of people simultaneously and has to account for things like server load and lag. That’s why they chose the soft-lock targeting system as opposed to Skyrim’s hit-box oriented system.
Is Skyrim a forever game?
At its core, Skyrim is a forever game. Its gameplay loop, open world, and lived-in atmosphere make it easy to sink hundreds of hours into, leave for months, and return like you never left. The quests are definitely more MMO-like vs the single-player experience like in Skyrim. However, if you’re big on story and lore, ESO still offers plenty in that department to compliment the single-player games.Don’t Expect Skyrim The freedom you would find in those games is not here in ESO. You won’t be running around killing NPCs on a whim or selecting from multiple dialogue choices very often. Exploration has also been toned back quite a bit.
