Anachronies are either flashbacks or flashforwards. The order in which the events actually occurred does not match the order in which they are presented in the narrative. This mixing of temporal order yields a more gripping, complex plot. The term Genette uses to designate non-chronological order is anachrony.
What is the gameplay like in Anachrony?
Anachrony is very challenging. The hardest part about it is the iconography is not super intuitive so you’ll need to reference it almost all the time. I also really enjoy the time travel mechanism; it’s one of the more unique and rewarding mechanics I’ve experienced in a game! Unlike many other RPGs, Anachronox displays a character’s attributes with qualitative descriptors (such as Poor and Excellent) instead of integers.Anachronox Prime is the title of the sequel to the Anachronox RPG, however it was never released, thus ending the plot of Anachronox with an unresolved cliffhanger.Critic Reviews. All in all, Anachronox is a long, rich, elegant, worthwhile, and above all satisfying gaming experience. The characters, story, and quests are really loads of fun. The goals are always clear, and if you get sidetracked you have no one to blame but yourself, and ultimately no harm is done.Anachronox is truly an underrated unique classic. What other game has a planet as a character? It’s part narrative driven adventure, and part JRPG. Even if the JRPG style combat is not your thing, don’t let that put you off.

How does Anachronox compare to other RPGs?
Anachronox is kind of like the Fifth Element meets Chrono Trigger, or some other JRPG. As far as JRPGs go, its deffinitly the best I’ve played. Then again I haven’t played many. Great music, story, atmosphere and humor at the forefront. Anachronox has a zany humor sense within a cohesive plot which, if I’ve seen it prior, don’t recall it being done so well.
