Why is gear 4 so strong?
By pumping air into the muscles, Luffy was able to use the springs in his body to use more powerful force than the other gears, besides that the presence of the IP contained in the gear gave more damage to each target. It has all the natural speed of Gear 2 but when combined with the power of Gear 3 the potential energy that Luffy can build up can exponentially increase his speed. Also his toughness in Gear 4 was crazy. Doffy literally could not hurt him in Gear 4.
Which is better, Gear 4 or 5?
Gear 4 is very goofy, doesn’t have as much impact as gear 2 that’s for sure, but it was only so in design, and the actual fights were still interesting, Gear 5 on the other hand is entirely goofy in every way, and is easily the worst. His energy and power are so immense that he can even set the sky on fire (as seen during his fight with Kaido). Gear 5 is essentially the form of Nika the Sun God — symbolizing laughter, joy, and freedom.
