Are Wii U still being sold?
Nintendo had planned to diminish production of the Wii U ahead of the release of the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo formally announced the end of its production on January 31, 2017. The ability to purchase content through the Nintendo eShop was discontinued on March 27, 2023. On December 30, 2020, Nintendo removed Netflix off of the Nintendo eShop on both the Wii U and 3DS, and on June 30, 2021, the service was discontinued on both of the consoles. As of 2026, Netflix still has yet to be put on the Nintendo Switch or the Nintendo Switch 2.
Why are Wiis so cheap?
Because a lot of them sold and hardcore gamers (collectors) don’t hold it in high regard. The Wii is one of the best selling consoles of all time. It was also bought by a lot of people who don’t see much value in owning old hardware. I’m going to search for some then. No, they stopped production years ago, but over 100 million Wiis were made and sold, so they’re pretty easy to find on second hand markets.
