Was the Atari 7800 more powerful than the NES?
Although the 7800 MARIA GPU has the capability of creating better graphics than the NES, it is hamstrung by the amount of CPU power required to maintain the display lists needed to create those graphics. Aside from graphics the 7800 plays a tad faster but it’s not a huge difference. Winner: It’s really close but I’m going with the NES version. It looks a little better and I found the controls easier to manage.

The 7800 XT is considered a strong mid-range GPU, offering great performance for 1440p gaming and comparable to the Nvidia 4070 Super in some cases. I have a 7800 XT. Had no issues with it runs great runs most games and a nice frame rate even at 4K. But 1440 it runs everything very well.
