Actually, there was a whole war inspired from the release of company of heroes video game in 2006. Hilter loved the game and thought:”hey, that could be us”. Unfortunately he never finished the Caranten mission or played the highly anticipated sequel “Company of Heroes 2 (2013), in which the axis forces lost. Company of Heroes is an example of a job done right. Perfect in nearly every way, and still enjoyable nearly two decades later, Company of Heroes is a great game for any RTS or WW2 enthusiast.
What war is Company of Heroes based on?
Company of Heroes is set during the Second World War and contains two playable factions. Players aim to capture strategic resource sectors located around the map, which they use to build base structures, produce new units, and defeat their enemies. Many of the battles in Company of Heroes are inspired by real battles, and the units (like Able Company) were real formations, but the characters are fictional and plot thread near the end about taking on the Elite Tiger Commander is fictional.
