Are any of the Terraforming Mars expansions worth it?
Overall, I would say that if you play a lot of Terraforming Mars, at least one of the board expansions would be a great investment to shake things up; especially if you like to play a lot of solo games. But if you play it less frequently, or more casually, the base board will do just fine. Terraforming Mars is a lot of fun with two players and I find adding Venus into it and lengthening the game really allows folks who enjoy the long game And also allows you to experiment with different card combinations and strategies. The game is overall good. I have over 400 hours in the original with all expansions and this game only improves the balancing and better integration of all the expansions it includes. If you are new player, wanting a Mars colonization/terraforming game, then I recommend go ahead.
Is Terraforming Mars Ares Expedition an expansion?
This is an expansion, not a stand-alone game. It also comes with twenty brand new project cards to bring in fresh strategies for infrastructure specialization, and to keep the ratio of the deck perfectly balanced between the old terraforming metrics and the new. We are now ready to take terraforming – the true legacy of Mars – to new worlds! The Legacy of Mars is a fully replayable campaign divided into two parts.
Is it better to terraform Venus or Mars?
The average temperature of Venus is 735K, and is the hottest object in the solar system apart from the sun, hotter even than Mercury. Add to this that an increase in temperature is probably easier to achieve than a decrease, the clear winner is Mars, by many, many miles. Which one would be easier to terraform: Venus or Mars? This is a tasty question. Simple answer: Mars, because it already has a day which is about the right length, and heating planets is easier than cooling them.
Will terraforming Mars ever become a reality?
Taken together, the results indicate that terraforming Mars cannot be done with currently available technology. Any such efforts have to be very far into the future. This research was supported in part by NASA through the MAVEN and Mars Odyssey THEMIS (Thermal Emission Imaging System) projects. Although new techniques have emerged that could raise Mars’s average global temperature by tens of degrees within a few decades, the terraforming of Mars is considered to be infeasible using present-day technology.
