When did the SG-1000 come out?
Developed in response to a downturn in arcades starting in 1982, the SG-1000 was created on the advice of Hayao Nakayama, president of Sega’s Japanese arm, and was released on July 15, 1983, the same day that Nintendo released the Family Computer in Japan. It also had a limited release in Australia and New Zealand. The SG-1000 made little impact on the video game industry, but has been recognized for being Sega’s first video game console. Retro Gamer writer Damien McFerran said it was an abject failure, but called it and the SG-1000 II the Japanese forefathers of the Master System. The SG-1000 was only sold in select markets in Asia and Oceania, with an estimated 2 million units sold worldwide. While the console fared better than many of its rivals, its main market in Japan would be dominated by Nintendo’s Famicom system.
Is SG2 the same as R2?
SG2 and R2 are two names for the same high-performance steel used in premium Japanese knives. Whether it’s labeled SG2 or R2, you’re getting a top-tier material known for incredible edge retention, durability, and sharpening ease. Toughness – despite its hardness, SG2 is less brittle than other steels of similar hardness, which reduces the risk of chipping the blade. Microstructure – thanks to its fine-grained structure, it ensures a smooth cut and precise control over the knife.High rust resistance: SG2 steel contains alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum, which give it excellent rust resistance. As a result, it is relatively resistant to moisture and oxidation, and if knives are properly maintained, they are said to be rust-resistant.
